SupportersLeichhardt Council Mayor Cr Carolyn Allen said "In June 2006, Council unanimously called for the City Farm proposal to be included when considering any masterplan for the Callan Park site. The City Farm proposal has a lot of merit and should be looked by SFHA as part of the current land use plan process as a way of protecting public access and sustainable uses for the site into the future."
Greens Councillor, Cr Kate Hamilton stated: "I'm totally in support of the proposed Sydney City Farm and was the first councilor to express my support. I believe it is an inspired idea and hope the state government gets behind the farm and sustainable living centre to make it become a reality for the community." Independent Councillor, Cr Maire Sheehan stated: "Be part of the solution! Do you know how the food you eat is grown and processed before you put it in your mouth? As we all try to understand and deal with climate change knowing how our food is grown - from seed to harvest - and what happens to it on its way to our table will be essential knowledge for all. A city farm providing a learning and experiential space is part of the solution for empowering us - the consumers." Friends Of Callan Park, Hall Greenland said "The failure to include the Sydney City Farm in the proposed plans for Callan Park is another example of the State Government not listening to the community's vision for the future of Callan Park. This is an excellent project with strong community support that has the potential to be a leading centre for sustainable urban living for all residents of Sydney." Callan Park Bushcare Group said Leichhardt Precinct Committe said Resolution: That the Leichhardt Precinct supports the Sydney City Farm and Sustainable Living Centre proposal and asks Leichhardt Council to support it also.
